Responsible for preparing individual and business tax returns including Form 1040, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, 1041, 990, 706, and 709. This role will involve ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while providing exceptional client service. This role will require strong knowledge of tax laws to maximize tax benefits for clients and minimize their tax liabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Tax Preparation:
Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities.
Review financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures.
Calculate tax liabilities, interest, and penalties.
Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns.
Client Interaction:
Communicate with clients to gather information about their tax situation.
Explain complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Provide clients with advice on tax planning and strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
Compliance and Documentation:
Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
Maintain detailed and accurate client records and documentation.
Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and company policies.
Analysis and Problem Solving:
Identify potential tax credits and deductions.
Analyze client data for accuracy and completeness
Resolve tax related issues and respond to inquiries from taxing authorities
Software and Tools:
Utilize tax preparation software to complete tax returns
Stay proficient with current tax software and tools
Additional responsibilities:
Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities
Provide feedback and suggestions to improve processes and client service
Interact positively with other departments and offices of Plains Tax Strategies to achieve a teamwork environment by maintaining external and internal customer service.

Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Tax Preparer or similar role. Experience with tax preparation software. UltraTax and Thomson Reuters software is a plus.
CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or other relevant certification is a plus.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software and accounting software. Proficiency in Excel is a requirement.
